Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas everyone! I'm beginning to feel rather festive right now having put the finishing touches to this illustration! It has been used as one side of my Christmas promo card that could possibly be winging it's way to your post boxes as I type!
The other side is adorned with the rather wintery illustration I did a little while ago of the view from my Hackney flat.

What no post card arrived in the post? Bah Humbug! Well worry not Xmas can be saved by sending me a quick email with your address! - simon@simonbrader.co.uk

Radio Times - 'The Storm'

It's that wonderful time of the year again... Christmas Radio Times issue! A sign that the festivities are officially on us long before a certain cola manufacturer rolled out their lorry! This year they've gone all out and illustrated every Radio Choice page so lot's of great work adorn those pages and nestled within is my image above.
'The Storm' is a radio play that recounts a man's attempts to record the sounds of a storm on a deserted Scottish island. Whilst doing this he picks up a woman's cries intrigued he sets out to investigate further...

Fire and Water

I've been a little quiet over the past couple of weeks due to doing my civic duty as a Juror at the Old Bailey! A really interesting experience although slightly stressful at times...
But coming back to the business of illustration, I've just finished working on this image which is a foray into the world of concept art and developing a specific environment.

America Decides

Polling time. A nation decides.

Hot off the press, just finished this illustration as voting begins!

A Winter Walk

I've lived in Hackney for quite a long time now and quite frankly there's not many places I'd rather be. In that time I've lazed in the sun in the parks, swam in the lido, drank in the pubs and even watched riots to Olympic flames from my window.
This is an illustration of one of those memorable moments, blizzard like conditions hit as I waited to celebrate Christmas with friends and this valiant fellow trudged through the rarely deserted streets.

Limited addition prints will be available so stay tuned for further info.

Radio Times - 'Rheingold'

I love working with the Radio Times, always seem to get a meaty brief to get stuck into and this one was no exception.
'Rheingold' is a Wagner opera about a ring forged from magical gold. A epic tale of Love Vs Power entails as fate and curses ensnare it's central characters.

AOI Images 36 'Best Of British Illustration 2012'

With things being a little frantic the last couple weeks I've been a little tardy getting this on the blog but here it is...  The AOI's Images 36 book!
I've had work selected for the last 3 years and it always an honour to be in something that I used to study as a bright eyed illustration student all those years back!
Illustration is certainly strong from the look of it at the moment so if you can get hold of a copy do because you won't be disappointed!

Images 36 is available from the The Association Of Illustrators.

APEX Magazine - 'Aerotropolis'

It's time to hit the skies again for APEX Magazine! This months illustrations are all about the debate of one huge airport Vs various smaller ones. Which is better? B.Spirit Magazine - 'Privately Educating Africa'

As the British summertime is being well... typically British, here's a set of images that will brighten your spirits!

This set of images were created for B.Spirit magazine on the topic of an ever increasing trend in Africa of children enrolling into private schools. Parents are willing to work hard and make sacrifices to help their children gain a decent education. This highlights the gaps in state education but  sadly gives the government even less incentive to repair the cracks within it.

A personal highlight of the image are the flowers made up of open books but I'm sure the eagle eyed of you already noticed them!
